Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities Medication Administration
Taught by trained Nurses who teach direct support professionals (DSPs) how to administer oral, eye, ear, topical, nasal medications, GJ tube education/medication administration, Diabetes education, and insulin injections.
DD Personnel must submit a completed application to the RN Trainer, including all Employer and Personal information and signatures. DD Personnel whose application forms are not completed or without required signatures are not eligible for DODD Medication Administration certification.

Requirements & Instructions
Requirements for Medication Administration for both initial and renewal training:

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must be working for DODD agency or being a DODD-certified independent provider.

Complete Application for DODD Personnel Form (See DODD Application)

Application Form must be signed by employer verifying background check requirements and High school Diploma or GED.
Instructions:

STEP 1: Download and complete the DODD Application (Employer has a part to fill out as well)

STEP 2: Upload the completed DODD Application (below with our registration form)

STEP 3: Register (complete Trainings-4U registration form) for initial or renewal training for either Med I, II, and III.

For INITIAL trainings (applies to Med I, II, and III)

Med I is hour and half

Med II and III is a hour

Medication Administration I is a 14-hour training on health-related activities and medication preparation, administration, and documentation for each route.

A 2 hour renewal training is offered.

Annual renewal required.

Renewal requires at least two hours of continuing education.
Medication Administration II is a 4-hour training on how to administer and document feedings, cleaning, and medication through G/J tubes.

Must have a current Medication Administration Category I before completing Medication Administration II initial and/or renewal training.

A 1-hour renewal training is offered.
Medication Administration III is a 4-hour training on the signs, symptoms, and management of diabetes. As well as how to administer and document insulin injections, use a glucometer, and proper disposal of sharp objects.

Must have a current Medication Administration Category I before completing Medication Administration III initial and/or renewal training.

A 1-hour renewal training is offered.
