BLS/CPR Instructor Training

BLS/CPR Instructor Training refers to a course that prepares qualified individuals to become certified instructors in Basic Life Support (BLS)—a set of life-saving techniques including CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), AED (automated external defibrillator) use, and care for choking got adults, children and infants.

BLS Instructor Training covers:

  • How to teach BLS/CPR courses (both for healthcare professionals and the general public)

  • Adult learning principles and effective communication

  • How to evaluate students’ skills and provide feedback

  • How to use AHA course materials

  • Administrative tasks, like managing course rosters and issuing course completion cards

Training Requirements

To qualify for BLS Instructor Training: 

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age

  2. Have a non-expired BLS Provider certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) (If do not have can be provided at a discounted price of $30)

  3. Complete the registration form below

  4. Must  have current BLS Provider certification and BLS Instructor Essentials certificate prior to scheduled class

 

What's Included:

  1. Instructor Manuals and Resource Forms

  2. Alignment with a training center 

  3. Observation session

 

After Certification:

Once certified, a BLS/CPR Instructor can:

  • Teach BLS Provider and Heartsaver CPR/AED courses

  • Certify others in BLS (with oversight from a Training Center)

  • Renew their own instructor status every 2 years (typically)
